Target Shooting Prohibited in Echo Canyon due to Wildfire Risk

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the extremely high fire danger and high incidence of target shooting and wildfires in the area described below, the State Forester, in cooperation and agreement with the Summit County Sheriff, has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition of wildfires.



Therefore, pursuant to Utah State Law, Section 65A-8-2l2, the following acts are prohibited in the areas described below until rescinded by the Utah State Forester: Target Shooting



The following persons are exempted from the above prohibitions:



1. Persons actively participating in a lawful hunting activity.

2. Persons participating in a scheduled training session conducted by a law enforcement agency.



Area Description:

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR} property located in Echo Canyon north of Interstate 80 between milepost 168 and milepost 171.5, and Interstate 84 between milepost 117.5 and 118.5 in the Hell Canyon area.



This order will automatically terminate on Thursday, August 15, 2019, unless reviewed, extended and agreed upon by the State Forester and Summit County Sheriff.



Effective Date: 12:01 a.m., Thursday, August l, 2019

Penalty: Violation of this restriction order is a Class B Misdemeanor.
