Corrections Officer

Summit County is currently recruiting for a full time Corrections Officer I. Female applicants are encouraged to apply. Performs a variety of entry level law enforcement duties related to the security, safety, order, operation and maintenance of county jail facilities, including incarceration and detention of prisoners. The County offers 12 hour shifts and an excellent benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications

Corrections Officer I: Graduation from high school and must be 21 years old.

May be filled by Corrections Officer II or III

Salary Range:

  • Corrections Officer I: $19.86 to $27.81 per hour
  • Corrections Officer II: $22.30 to $31.24 per hour
  • Corrections Officer III: $25.06 to $35.10 per hour

Applicants must submit a completed Summit County Application, a copy of P.O.S.T certificate if certified and/or a copy of P.O.S.T. pre-entrance exam scores if not certified. This exam will be utilized as a basic written exam. A physical agility test will be administered for non-certified applicants, followed by an oral board, extensive background, psychological and polygraph test.

Summit County is a drug free workplace conducting pre-employment testing.
