Planning & Zoning
The Community Development Department consists of the Planning and Zoning Department, as well as the Building Department. Planning and Zoning serves the citizens of Summit County, striving to make it a better place to live, work, and visit. Our objective is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Summit County.
In order to meet the diverse planning needs and goals of Summit County, two separate planning jurisdictions (map) have been created. The Eastern Summit County Development Code serves the interests and goals of the citizens living in the eastern side of the county, including the unincorporated areas surrounding, but not including, the towns of Henefer, Coalville, Kamas, Oakley and Francis. The Snyderville Basin Development Code serves the interests and goals of the citizens living in the western side of the county, including the unincorporated area surrounding, but not including Park City Municipal.
